What Makes Lasers Different
There are different types of lasers, and each works a bit like different kinds of flashlights. Some are small, like the ones in your toy remote control, these are called laser diodes. Others are big and powerful, used in hospitals to help doctors see inside your body, these are solid-state lasers.
How Lasers Work
Imagine you're shining a flashlight through a tunnel. If the tunnel is straight, all the light comes out together, that’s like how a laser works! Some lasers use gas, like the kind in a neon sign, and they’re called gas lasers. Others use liquids or special crystals inside them.
Each type of laser has its own job. Some are used to cut things, some help you see better, and others even make pretty colors on your phone screen. They're not magic, just really smart light!
