What are two faces?

A face is one side of something, and “two faces” means that thing has two sides you can see.

Imagine you have a coin, like the one you use to flip for who gets to go first in a game. When you look at it, you see one side, maybe it has a head on it. If you turn it over, you see the other side, maybe it has a tail. That means the coin has two faces: one with a head and one with a tail.

Like a Book

A book is another example of something with two faces. When you open it up, you can read from the front cover, that’s one face. If you turn it around, you see the back cover, that’s the other face. So just like the coin, the book has two faces, too.

You touch things with two faces every day, like a plate or a door. One side is up, and when you flip it over, there's another side, and that’s what makes them have two faces!
