What are tremors?

Tremors are like when the ground gets wiggly and shakes a little bit, just like when you're playing on a trampoline.

Imagine you're sitting on a big, soft bed. When someone jumps on it from behind, the bed goes up and down, that’s kind of what happens during a tremor. The whole floor or ground moves in small waves, making things around you shake, like when your cup of juice wobbles.

What Causes Tremors?

Sometimes, deep under the Earth, there are big rocks that push and pull against each other. When they suddenly move, it sends little shakes through the ground, just like when you bounce on a trampoline and make the bed go up and down.

These shakes can be strong or gentle, depending on how far away you are from where the rocks moved. Sometimes you feel them as tiny jiggles; other times, they might even knock things over!

What Happens During a Tremor?

It’s like when your friend jumps on the trampoline next to you, everything around you moves just a little bit, and it's fun to watch!
