What are transport costs?

Transport costs are the money you need to move things from one place to another.

Imagine you have a toy car, and you want it to go from your bedroom to the living room. You might push it, or maybe use a ramp. That’s like what happens when we send things far away, like food from a farm to a store. But pushing that toy car takes energy, just like moving big trucks full of goods needs money.

Why transport costs matter

When you move something, the farther it goes, the more transport costs there are. It's like walking vs running, if your toy car has to go all the way across the house, it might need a bigger push (or more money).

Also, how heavy something is matters too! If you're moving a big box of toys instead of just one little car, that takes more energy (or more money) to move.

So, transport costs are like the price tag for getting things from where they start to where they end up, whether it's your toy car or a truck full of apples!
