What Makes a Territory?
The Three Territorial Friends
- A country's territory: Think of it as the whole map you see when you look at a globe, everything from mountains to cities that belong to one country.
- A person's territory: It’s like your desk in school, only you can sit there and do your work, unless someone else asks nicely.
- An animal's territory: Like the space around your dog's favorite sleeping spot, it’s where they feel safe and happy.
Each of these three territories is a special place for something or someone, just like how each box in your room has its own special job! A territory is like a special area that belongs to someone or something, kind of like your favorite corner of the playground.
Examples
- A territory is like a special area with its own identity, such as a country or region. Examples include France, Antarctica, and the United States.
- Imagine three different places: one where people speak French, another that's covered in snow all year, and a big nation with many states.
- Territories can be large or small, like how France is a country, Antarctica is a cold land without a government, and the U. S. has fifty states.
