What are things?

Things are objects that we can see, touch, move, and use, like toys, food, or even your favorite blanket.

What makes something a *thing*?

A thing is anything you can pick up. For example, if you have a red ball, you can hold it in your hand, roll it on the floor, or throw it to your friend. That’s what makes it a thing, it has shape and size.

How do we know where one *thing* ends and another begins?

Think of your toy box. Each toy is a separate thing, even though they're all in the same place. You can take out just one toy, like a teddy bear, without moving the others. That shows each thing has its own space.

Things can change

If you have a cup of juice and drink it, the thing (the juice) changes, it goes from full to empty. But it’s still a thing, just not as full anymore.

So remember: A thing is something you can touch, move, or use, like your favorite toy or snack! Things are objects that we can see, touch, move, and use, like toys, food, or even your favorite blanket.
