What are thermal chambers?

Thermal chambers are big rooms that help things get really hot or really cold, just like a freezer or an oven in your kitchen, but way bigger!

Imagine you're baking a cake, and instead of using a small oven, you use a whole room to cook it. That’s kind of what thermal chambers do, they let scientists test how different materials react when they’re super hot or super cold.

How They Work

Thermal chambers can be set up like a big freezer or a giant oven. If they want something to be very cold, they use special machines to make the air inside really chilly, just like how your fridge keeps your drinks cool. If they want it hot, they add heat until it feels like you’re standing next to a campfire!

Why They're Used

Scientists and engineers use thermal chambers to see if things will work well in extreme weather. For example, a toy car might be tested inside one to see if it still rolls when it’s freezing outside or blazing hot in the sun, just like how you test your toys to make sure they’re ready for playtime!
