What are the goals of NASA's Artemis moon missions?

NASA’s Artemis moon missions are like going on a fun adventure to visit our moon neighbor and set up a new home there.

Imagine you’re building a big, awesome playground for your friends. That’s what NASA is doing with the Artemis missions, they’re bringing people back to the moon so we can start setting things up like a new neighborhood. First, we want to land astronauts, including the first woman and the first person of color, to show that anyone can go to the moon.

Once the playground is built, it will be easier for people to visit and stay on the moon longer, kind of like how you can play at a friend’s house all day. NASA wants to build a space station around the moon so astronauts can live there while they explore different parts of the moon. This will help us learn more about the moon, and maybe one day we’ll even go to Mars!
