What are the environmental impacts of artificial intelligence?

AI is like having a super-smart robot helper that can do lots of tasks really fast, but it needs energy to work, and that energy affects our planet.

Artificial intelligence, or AI, uses computers that need electricity. Big computers use a lot of electricity, and if the electricity comes from coal or other not-so-green sources, it makes more pollution in the air.

Imagine your robot helper is working nonstop to solve puzzles, answer questions, and play games, like how you might stay up all night reading books or playing with your toys. That robot uses a lot of energy, just like you use a lot of energy when you're super busy. Over time, this can make the Earth warmer, because burning coal releases something called carbon dioxide.

But AI also helps us do things more efficiently, like driving cars that don’t need a human to steer them or helping doctors find better ways to treat sick people. So even though it uses energy, it can help make life easier and cleaner too!
