Dreams and daydreams are both kinds of imaginative thoughts, but they happen at different times.
Dreams are like stories your brain tells you while you're asleep. They can be silly, scary, or even super fun, just like when you fall asleep after a long day and wake up thinking you flew on a dinosaur. You don’t control them; they come all by themselves in the night.
Daydreams, on the other hand, are like little breaks your brain takes during the day. They happen when you’re doing something else, like sitting at the table eating cereal or waiting for the bus, and suddenly, you're thinking about being a superhero or flying to space with your lunch.
Like Watching a Movie vs. Pretending
Dreams are like watching a full movie in your head while you sleep, it's big, wild, and you can’t stop it.
Daydreams are more like playing make-believe during the day, they're short, sweet, and you can choose to go back to eating cereal whenever you want.
Examples
