What are teeth?

Teeth are hard, white things in your mouth that help you chew food.

Imagine you have a box of crayons, and you want to draw a picture. You need something to color with, that’s like what teeth do for eating. They grab the food and break it into smaller pieces so your body can use it better.

How Teeth Work

Think of your mouth as a kitchen. Your teeth are like little tools in that kitchen. Some teeth, called incisors, are sharp and pointy, they’re good at biting into things like apples or carrots. Other teeth, called molars, are flat and wide, they crush up tough foods like bread or nuts.

When you eat, your teeth work together with your tongue and jaw to turn food into something soft and easy to swallow. It's like a teamwork project between all the parts of your mouth!

So next time you take a bite, remember: your teeth are helping you enjoy every chew!
