What are sumerians?

The Sumerians were some of the earliest people to build big cities and write down stories, like the first kids on a playground who came up with games everyone plays.

Imagine you're playing with blocks, building towers that go really high. That's kind of what the Sumerians did, but instead of blocks, they used mud bricks to build cities in a place called Mesopotamia, which is now part of modern-day Iraq. They lived thousands of years ago, way before your grandparents were even born!

Like a Big Team

The Sumerians weren’t just one person, they were a group, like a big team working together. Some people farmed the land, some made tools, and others came up with writing, which was super cool because it let them remember things without having to tell stories over and over again.

They even had their own special kind of writing called cuneiform, which looked like little wedge shapes pressed into clay, almost like drawing with a stick in the dirt!

Their Legacy

Today, we can still learn from them. They taught us how to build cities, write stories, and keep track of time. It’s like they left behind a big message in a bottle for us to find!
