Like a Popcorn Bag
Imagine you have a bag of popcorn, and it’s just sitting there on the table. That's normal. But then, all of a sudden, you shake it really hard, BOOM!, the whole bag starts to pop at once, and suddenly there are way more pieces of popcorn than before. That’s a sudden increase, the number of popcorn pieces went from normal to super big in just a moment.
Like a Line at the Park
Or think about waiting in line for the slide at the park. You’ve been waiting for a few minutes, and there are only a couple of kids ahead of you, that’s normal. But then, all of a sudden, ten more kids rush to the end of the line! Now it feels like it's going to take forever. That's another sudden increase, the number of people in line went from small to huge very fast.
Sudden increases happen when something changes really quickly, and it can make things feel bigger or more intense than before!
