A subordinate is someone who helps another person do their job.
Imagine you're playing a game where one person is the captain of a ship, and the others are the crew. The captain gives orders, and the crew follows them, they’re the subordinates. Just like how your teacher might ask you and your classmates to help clean up the classroom, and you all become the helpers in that situation.
