What are strategic barriers?

Strategic barriers are like invisible walls that stop people or groups from reaching their goals, just like a big pile of toys stops you from getting to your favorite one in the middle of the room.

Imagine you and your friend want to get to the biggest slide at the playground. But there’s a big puddle between you and the slide. That puddle is like a strategic barrier. It doesn’t stop you from going to the slide, it just makes it harder, or maybe even stops you if you’re not wearing shoes.

Why Strategic Barriers Happen

Sometimes, people create these barriers on purpose. Like when your mom says, “You can only watch one cartoon before dinner.” That’s a strategic barrier, she wants you to eat before you get too distracted by the TV!

Other times, they’re just there from how things are set up, like if your backpack is full of books and snacks, it makes it harder for you to run fast. That’s also a strategic barrier.

Strategic barriers can be little or big, but they all work in the same way: they make reaching a goal more difficult, sometimes even impossible!
