What are steps?

Steps are ways to do something, just like when you follow directions from your bedroom to the kitchen.

Imagine you want to get a snack. You might say: First, I go out of my room. Next, I walk down the hallway. Then, I open the kitchen door. Each part of that plan is a step, a little piece of the whole journey.

Like Building a Tower

Think about stacking blocks. If you want to make a tower, your steps could be:

  1. Take one block.
  2. Put it on the floor.
  3. Add another block on top.
  4. Keep going until your tower is tall!

Each time you do something, like putting a block on top, that's a step in making your tower.

Steps help us know what to do next, just like instructions for your favorite game or how to tie your shoes. You might not even notice them, but they’re there, helping you get from here to there!
