What are stanzas?

A stanza is like a group of sentences that work together to tell part of a story or express an idea, just like how your favorite toy has different pieces that all fit together.

Imagine you're building a tower with blocks. Each block is a line in a poem, and when you stack a few blocks together, that's a stanza. Just like how each group of blocks helps make the whole tower stronger or taller, each stanza helps build up the full meaning of a poem.

How Stanzas Work

Think of a song you love to sing along with. Sometimes the song has different parts, maybe a verse and then a chorus. Each of those parts is like a stanza, helping carry the story or emotion forward.

If you're writing a letter, you might break your thoughts into paragraphs. A stanza works in much the same way, it's just for poems instead of letters!
