What are spigots?

A spigot is like a tap that lets water flow out when you turn it on.

Imagine you have a big bucket full of water, and instead of pouring it out with your hands, there’s a little handle you can twist, that's a spigot! When you turn the handle, water starts to come out, just like how water comes from the sink in your kitchen when you turn the tap on. Spigots are used in places like gardens, farms, and even in your school, wherever people need water to flow easily.

A spigot has a pipe inside it that controls the flow of water. When you twist the handle, it moves this pipe, letting water pass through. It’s kind of like opening a door, when the door is open, people can walk in and out; when it's closed, they can't.

Sometimes, spigots are on water hoses, so you can carry water to different places, like watering plants or filling up a pool. The more you use it, the easier it gets to turn the handle, just like how your fingers get used to turning on the tap at home!
