What are spaces between things?

Spaces between things are the empty areas you can see or feel when there’s nothing touching something else.

Imagine you're playing with building blocks. When you stack them on top of each other, they’re all touching. But if you leave some blocks apart, like having a gap between two towers, that's a space between things, it's the area where your fingers can fit in and move around freely.

Like a Playground

Think about a playground. When kids are all standing close together, there’s not much space between them. But when they run off to play different games, there are big spaces between things, like the empty parts of the sandbox or the area near the swings that no one is using.

A Real-Life Example

Look at your hands. When you hold a pencil tight, your fingers are close together with almost no space between them. But when you open your hand wide, there’s lots of space between things, like the gaps between your thumb and index finger where you can fit a small toy or a crumb.

These spaces help us move, play, and even breathe!
