What are social connections?

Social connections are the friendships and relationships we have with people around us, like how you play with your friends at school or talk to your family at home.

Imagine you have a toy box full of different toys. Each toy is like a person, and when two toys are together, they make a social connection. That means they're sharing, playing, or talking with each other. Just like how you might share your favorite crayon with a friend, that's a connection!

Like a Group Game

When you’re on the playground, you might be in a group game with your classmates. You all work together to win, that’s a kind of social connection, too. It’s like being part of a team.

When People Are Far Away

Sometimes, people aren’t right next to you, maybe they're across town or even in another country. But you can still have social connections through phone calls, texts, or video chats. It's just like talking to your friend while you're both at different parks, you’re still connected!

These connections help us feel happy, safe, and understood, like having a big, friendly group of people who care about you!
