Simple symbols are little signs that help us understand bigger ideas, just like letters make up words.
Imagine you're playing with blocks. You have a red block and a blue block. If your friend points to the red block and says "this is happy," and then points to the blue block and says "this is sad," now every time you see the red block, you think happy, and every time you see the blue one, you think sad.
That’s what simple symbols do, they’re like those blocks. They stand for something else, helping us remember or recognize ideas quickly. Think of traffic lights: a green light means "go," and a red light means "stop." Those are simple symbols, too!
Why We Use Them
Symbols help us communicate without using many words. Just like you might draw a smiley face to show you're happy, people use symbols in maps, books, and even on phones, it's like having a shortcut for thinking!
