What are siege tactics?

Siege tactics are ways to win a battle by slowly taking over a place, like a fortress or a castle.

Imagine you're trying to get into your favorite toy box, but it's locked and there’s no key. You can’t just burst in, you need to think of clever ways to open it or make the person guarding it give up.

Siege tactics are like that toy box strategy. If you’re attacking a castle, you might surround it so no one can come in or go out. That's called surrounding. You could also try to knock down the walls by throwing big rocks at them, that’s like using a trebuchet, which is a giant version of a slingshot.

Sometimes, attackers dig tunnels under the wall to surprise everyone inside, it’s like digging under your bed and popping up behind you while you're playing with your toys!

If the defenders get tired of being surrounded or hit by rocks, they might just give up and let you in. That’s how siege tactics help you win without fighting a big battle right away!
