What are secret codes?

Secret codes are like mysterious messages that only certain people can read or understand.

Imagine you and your friend have a special way of talking to each other when no one else is listening. You use secret words, or maybe you switch letters around in a message, it’s like playing a game where the others don’t know the rules!

Think about writing a note to your friend, but instead of using normal letters, you write them as numbers. For example:

And so on.

So if you write "HELLO", it would look like 8 5 12 12 15, and only your friend knows that secret way of turning letters into numbers!

Sometimes, people use secret codes to send messages without others knowing what they're saying. It's just like putting on a special hat when you want to talk to someone in a crowd, the hat hides what you're doing, and only the person with the matching hat can hear your special message!
