What are rhythms?

Rhythms are like the beat of a drum you tap every time you walk.

Imagine you're skipping rope. You jump once, the rope goes around, whoosh, then you jump again. That’s a rhythm: it's the pattern of how things happen over and over again.

What Makes Something a Rhythm?

A rhythm is when something repeats in a regular way. Like your heartbeat, thump, thump, thump. Or the ticking of a clock, tick, tock, tick, tock. Even your favorite song has a rhythm, and you can tap your foot to it without even thinking.

Rhythms in Everyday Life

You might not notice it, but rhythms are everywhere. When you brush your teeth, you move the brush up and down, that’s a rhythm. When you eat cereal, you pour milk into your bowl, pour, pour, pour, that's another rhythm!

Rhythms help us do things smoothly and without getting confused. They're like invisible helpers, guiding our actions in a steady, friendly way.
