What are repeats?

A repeat is when something happens again and again in a pattern, just like your favorite song plays on loop at the playground.

Imagine you're counting stairs as you go up. You say "1, 2, 3, 4, 5..." and then it starts over: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5..." That's a repeat, the same numbers keep showing up in the same order.

Like a Bunch of Blocks Stacked Up

Think about building with blocks. If you put a red block, then a blue block, and then repeat that pattern, red, blue, red, blue, you're making a repeat. It's like having a recipe for your tower: "red, blue" is the pattern, and every time it shows up again, it's a repeat.

Or Like Clapping Hands

When you clap hands, sometimes you do it in a pattern too: clap, clap, snap, then repeat that same sequence again. That’s also a repeat!

Repeats are all around us, helping things feel organized and fun, just like your favorite game or song!
