What are repeating words?

Repeating words are when the same word shows up more than once in a short piece of writing or speech.

Imagine you're telling a story about your favorite toy, let's say it’s a red ball. If you keep saying “ball” over and over like this: “I have a ball. I throw the ball. The ball goes far.” That’s repeating words!

Sometimes, repeating words helps us remember what we're talking about, just like how you might say “cookie, cookie, cookie” when you’re really excited about eating cookies.

But if you repeat too much, it can feel boring or confusing. It’s like if someone kept saying “chair, chair, chair” during a whole story, you’d probably forget what the story was about!

So, repeating words are helpful sometimes, but we don’t want to use them all the time!
