Rainforests are giant forests that have lots of trees, plants, and animals living together in one happy place.
Imagine your room is full of toys, blocks, cars, stuffed animals, and crayons all mixed up. Now imagine that room is a tree, and there are thousands of these rooms stacked on top of each other, that's what a rainforest looks like!
Big and busy
Rainforests have many layers. At the bottom, you might find little plants and fungi, like the tiny creatures under your bed. Above them are bigger trees with leaves so thick, it feels like being inside a green tunnel. In the middle, birds fly around, and monkeys swing from branch to branch. At the top, big trees stretch high into the sky, like the tallest buildings in the world.
Rainforests are also very lively, they never sleep! Rain falls all year round, which is why we call them rainforests. This rain helps all the plants and animals grow and stay healthy, just like how water helps your plants at home grow taller.
