Protein-coding genes are like recipes that tell your body how to make special builders called proteins.
Imagine you have a toy box full of different kinds of blocks, each block is like a protein, and each recipe in the box tells you exactly how to put together one specific kind of block. These recipes live inside your cells, written in a language made of letters called DNA. When your body needs that special block (or protein), it reads the recipe and builds the block step by step.
How They Work
Your body has many different kinds of blocks (proteins) for all sorts of jobs, like helping you grow, fixing broken parts, or even thinking! Each protein-coding gene is a unique recipe that your body uses when it needs that particular protein.
When your cells get the signal to start building, they copy the recipe and use it in another part of the cell to make the actual block (the protein). It's like having a chef who takes a recipe from the kitchen and cooks up the dish, only this time, the chef is inside your cells!
So every time you do something cool or feel strong, there might be a protein-coding gene working hard behind the scenes!
