What are prompt engineers?

Prompt engineers are people who help computers understand what we want them to do, kind of like a translator between you and the computer.

Imagine you have a robot that can draw pictures, but it only understands very simple instructions. You want it to draw a cat wearing sunglasses, but all it knows is "draw," "cat," and "sunglasses." That's where a prompt engineer comes in, they help make the instructions clear so the robot knows exactly what to do.

Like a Recipe for the Robot

Think of it like giving a recipe to a chef. If you just say, "Make something tasty," the chef might make soup or cake, but if you say, "Make chocolate chip cookies with extra chocolate," the chef knows exactly what to do.

A prompt engineer is like that helpful person who makes sure your instructions are just right so the robot (or computer) can do its best job. They play around with words and examples to get the best results, kind of like how you might try different ways to say something until it sounds just right.
