What are prayers of intercession?

Prayers of intercession are like asking a friend to help you solve a problem.

Imagine you're trying to get your favorite toy back from a bigger kid, but you’re not sure how to ask them nicely. So instead, you go to your best friend and say, “Hey, can you please talk to that kid and tell them to give me my toy back?” That’s intercession, someone else is helping you by speaking up for you.

How it works

When people pray in intercession, they’re like that best friend. They ask God to help another person or group of people. Maybe a family is going through a hard time, and someone else prays for them so that God might bring comfort or help.

It’s like when you help your little brother with his homework, you're not doing the work for him, but you’re making it easier for him to understand.

Sometimes, you don’t even know who is praying for you. It's kind of like having a secret helper in the background, trying to make things better for you without you realizing it!
