What are philosophical questions?

Philosophical questions are big thoughts about things we wonder every day.

Imagine you're playing with building blocks. You stack them up high, really high! Then you ask yourself, "Why do they fall down when I push them?" That's a question. Now imagine asking, "What makes something 'real', like my favorite toy or my imaginary friend?" That's a philosophical question, it’s a big thought about things we wonder every day.

What Makes a Question "Philosophical"?

Sometimes, people ask philosophical questions when they're trying to figure out why things are the way they are. Like asking, "Why do I feel happy when I laugh?" or "What does it mean to be brave?"

Other times, they ask them just because they’re curious, like, "Is time something we can touch, or is it just in our minds?" It's like looking at a cloud and thinking, "Maybe it’s a dragon!", you don’t know for sure, but it makes your brain work hard to imagine.

Philosophical questions are like the big ideas behind small things, they help us understand ourselves and the world around us in cool new ways.
