A personalist autocracy is like a super strong boss who runs everything and everyone follows them because they’re really good at being in charge, or maybe just really scary.
Imagine you're in a classroom, and there's one kid who always wins every game, gets all the snacks, and even tells the teacher what to do. That’s kind of how a personalist autocracy works, except instead of a classroom, it’s an entire country.
How It Works
In a personalist autocracy, one person is in charge, like the king or queen of a big kingdom. This leader makes all the important decisions and has a lot of power. Everyone else, like the people who work for the government, the police, even the schools, do what they're told because they want to stay on the leader's good side.
Sometimes this leader is really popular and people love them, just like how you might love that one kid in class who always shares their snacks. Other times, the leader might be strict or even a little scary, so everyone does what they’re told to avoid trouble, kind of like when you don’t want to get in trouble for not cleaning your room.
In this type of government, everything revolves around the personalist autocrat, just like how everything in that classroom revolves around the super strong boss kid.
