What are patterns and cycles?

Patterns and cycles are things that happen again and again in a predictable way, like when you know what comes next because it always does.

Like Rhythm in Music

Imagine you're tapping your foot to a song. The beat goes thump, thump, thump, that’s a pattern. If the song repeats every few beats, that’s a cycle. You might not know what the next note is, but you know the rhythm will keep going the same way.

Like the Days of the Week

Think about the days in a week: Monday comes after Sunday, then Tuesday, and so on, until it loops back to Monday again. That’s like a cycle! It keeps happening every 7 days, just like your favorite cartoon comes on TV at the same time each day.

You can find patterns and cycles everywhere, from the way your toys stack up to how the seasons change. Once you notice them, you’ll start seeing them in everything you do!
