Partial uploads are when you send part of something big to a computer before it’s all done.
Imagine you're trying to send a picture from your phone to your friend's phone over the internet, but the connection isn’t strong enough to handle the whole picture at once. So instead of waiting until the picture is fully ready, you send little pieces of it one after another, like sending puzzle pieces in a box, bit by bit.
Like Sending Letters in a Backpack
Think of your phone as a backpack full of letters. Each letter is a small part of the picture. You start taking out letters and sending them to your friend’s phone one by one. Your friend gets each letter and starts putting it together into the whole picture, even if not all the letters have arrived yet.
This way, you don’t have to wait for everything to be ready before starting. You can begin sharing as soon as the first piece arrives, and keep going until the last letter is sent!
It’s like eating a big sandwich, you take one bite at a time, instead of waiting until the whole sandwich is made.
Examples
- Imagine sending a picture in pieces instead of all at once, that's like a partial upload.
- You're downloading a big movie, but it starts playing before it finishes, that’s using partial uploads.
