What are pancreas?

The pancreas is like a tiny kitchen helper inside your body that helps you digest food and keep your energy levels just right.

Imagine you’re eating a big bowl of cereal in the morning, the pancreas works behind the scenes to make sure your body can use all those bits of food for fuel. It makes special helpers called insulin and glucagon, which are like little workers that tell your body when to store energy or release it.

How the Pancreas Helps You Eat

When you eat, the pancreas sends out enzymes, think of them like tiny chefs, into your digestive system. These enzymes help break down food so your body can absorb all the good stuff from what you ate.

Keeping Your Energy Balanced

The pancreas also has another job: it keeps track of how much sugar is in your blood. When there’s too much, it sends out insulin to help store it away. When there's not enough, it sends out glucagon to bring some back, like a seesaw that keeps you balanced!
