What are old buildings?

Old buildings are like big, strong toys that have been played with for a very long time.

Imagine you have a favorite wooden block tower, you build it, and every day you add more blocks to it. Over time, the tower gets taller and stronger. That’s kind of what old buildings are like, they were built many years ago, and people kept adding to them or fixing parts of them so they could stay standing.

How They Look

Old buildings often have brick or stone walls, which feel rougher than the smooth plastic of new toys. Some might even have wooden beams showing on the ceiling, like the inside of a big tree house. These materials are older and stronger, just like how old blocks can still hold up your tower.

Why They Last

People take care of them too! Just like you might paint your block tower to make it look better or fix it if it falls over, people in the past painted walls and fixed broken parts so buildings could last for hundreds of years. That’s why we can still see some old buildings today, they’re like time capsules from long ago!
