What are occluded fronts?

Occluded fronts happen when one weather group hugs another and covers it up like a blanket.

Imagine you're playing with your toys on a sunny day, that's like warm air. Suddenly, a cold wind comes in and pushes the warm air up into the sky, making clouds and rain, that's like a cold front coming through. Now, imagine another cool breeze arrives behind the first one, and it snuggles right next to the cold front, hiding it from view. That second cooler group is like an occluded front, and now both the warm air and the first cold front are kind of squeezed out by this new cooler friend.

What does it feel like?

It's like when you're wearing a cozy sweater on a chilly day, and then your brother comes in with a blanket, he covers you up, and suddenly you can't tell where the warmth from your sweater ends and the blanket begins. The weather feels mixed-up, sometimes cloudy, sometimes rainy, and it might even feel cooler than before.

Occluded fronts are like that cozy blanket, they cover other weather groups and make things interesting in the sky!
