Non-human primates are animals related to humans, just like cousins in a big family.
Imagine you have a big toy box full of different kinds of toys, some are cars, some are dolls, and some are robots. Now think of non-human primates as the dolls and robots that look a little bit like you, they’re not humans, but they're close relatives.
They live in many places
Some non-human primates live in tall trees, like monkeys who swing from branch to branch. Others live in forests or jungles, climbing around and eating fruit. Some even live in groups where they play together, just like kids on the playground.
They’re smart and playful
Many of them have big brains, which means they can learn tricks, solve problems, and even use tools, kind of like how you might use a spoon to eat your cereal.
Some primates, like chimpanzees, can even make tools out of sticks or leaves to help them get food. It's like when you build a tower with blocks, they're using their brains in a clever way!
Examples
- A child learns that monkeys and humans are related because they both have similar features, like opposable thumbs.
