What are non-conscious processes?

Non-conscious processes are things your brain does automatically, without you having to think about them.

Imagine you're eating a piece of chocolate. You don’t have to tell yourself “Now I’m going to taste this chocolate”, it just happens. That’s because your brain has non-conscious processes working behind the scenes, like little helpers that do things you don’t notice.

Like a trained dog

Think of non-conscious processes as a trained dog. You taught it to fetch a ball without thinking about it. When you throw the ball, the dog just runs after it, no need for you to explain every step. Your brain does similar things: it remembers how to ride a bike, how to walk, or even how to tie your shoes, all without you having to think about each move.

They work while you're busy

These helpers are always at work, even when you’re doing something else. Like when you're playing with toys and your brain is still deciding what snack to pick next, it’s all happening in the background!

So, non-conscious processes are like little helpers that do things automatically, so you can focus on having fun!
