People moving from one place to another is called migration, and when we look at where they go or come from over time, that's a migration trend.
Imagine you have a big cookie jar full of chocolate chip cookies. One day, some kids take cookies out of the jar and put them in a smaller jar across the room. Then more kids do the same thing the next day, this is like people moving to new places. If we watch how many cookies go into that small jar each week, we can see if more or fewer kids are taking cookies. That’s just like seeing migration trends, it helps us know if more people are moving somewhere or not.
Why Migration Trends Matter
Migration trends help grown-ups plan for the future. If a lot of people move to a city, there might be more traffic and more schools needed. If many people leave a town, maybe there will be fewer stores or less busy parks, kind of like how your cookie jar gets emptier if too many kids keep taking cookies!
Sometimes, migration trends happen because of changes in jobs, weather, or even games that kids love playing. Like when everyone wants to go where the best soccer field is!
