What are meta-analyses?

A meta-analysis is like putting together all the puzzle pieces from many different puzzles to see the bigger picture.

Imagine you and your friends each have a small box of Legos. You all build the same kind of castle, but each one looks slightly different because of the way you put the bricks together. A meta-analysis is like someone taking all those castles apart and putting all the Legos into one big pile, then building the best possible castle using all the pieces. This helps everyone see what works best overall.

Each puzzle (or Lego castle) is a study, and the person doing the meta-analysis is like a clever kid who wants to know which way of building the castle is the most fun or strongest. By combining many studies, they can find out something much clearer than just looking at one puzzle at a time.

Sometimes, when you look at just one puzzle, it might seem like red bricks are the best, but when you see all the puzzles together, blue bricks actually make the castle stronger. That’s what meta-analyses help us discover!
