Mammals are animals that have hair or fur, can warm themselves up like a blanket, and usually give birth to live babies.

Imagine you're wearing your favorite hoodie on a chilly day, that’s how mammals feel when they use their fur to stay warm. Most of them also have milk to feed their babies, just like mommies do with little bottles or nursing.

Some mammals walk on four legs, like your dog or cat. Others can fly, like bats (they're kind of like tiny superheroes with wings). Some even swim, like dolphins, they’re like fish but have fur and blowholes to breathe air!
