Lungs are like air balloons that help you breathe and keep your body full of life.
Imagine you're playing with a big balloon. When you blow into it, it fills up with air, that’s like what happens in your lungs when you inhale. Your lungs are inside your chest, and they stretch out to take in air from the world around you. Then, when you exhale, they let that air go back out, just like letting the air out of a balloon.
How Lungs Work
Your lungs are made up of lots of tiny air pockets, kind of like a sponge with many little bubbles inside. These bubbles help your body get oxygen from the air and send it to your blood, so your body can use that oxygen to keep moving and growing.
When you run around or laugh really hard, your lungs work extra fast, just like when you blow up a balloon really quick! They make sure you always have enough air to keep going.
