What are lockdowns?

A lockdown is when everyone in a place stays inside to keep germs from spreading too fast.

Imagine you and your friends are playing in a big park, but someone sneezes really hard, that’s like a germ explosion. If you all keep playing outside, the germs can jump from one person to another quickly. But if you all go home and stay inside, it's harder for the germs to move around.

Lockdowns are like a group hug for everyone in a city or school, they all stay cozy inside until the germs calm down.

When lots of people get sick at once, doctors might say, "Let’s do a lockdown!" That means schools close, parks shut down, and people try to avoid going out unless it's very necessary, like getting food or medicine.

It’s kind of like when you’re playing tag, and the teacher says, "Everyone goes inside!", suddenly, the game slows down, and you have time to rest and get ready for more fun later.
