What are living things?

A living thing is something that grows, moves, and needs food to stay alive, just like you!

Living things can grow, which means they get bigger over time. Think of a seed turning into a plant, it starts small and becomes tall! They also move, like when you run around the playground or your dog chases a ball.

Just like you need food to play all day, living things need something to keep them going too. A cat needs fish, a tree needs sunlight, and you need snacks, all of these are kinds of food for living things.

Some living things also make new living things! Like how babies come from moms, or how a worm can turn into more worms. That’s called having babies or being able to reproduce.

So next time you see a plant growing, a dog running, or even yourself playing, remember, those are all living things, just like you! 🌱🐶👧
