What are life cycles?

A life cycle is the journey something goes through from being born to growing up and finally becoming what it was always meant to be.

Imagine you have a favorite toy that comes in a box. When you open the box, it's all put together, like a puzzle. But when you play with it, you take it apart, and sometimes you even make new shapes with it. Over time, you might stop playing with it as much, or maybe you give it to your little brother. That’s kind of like what happens in a life cycle.

Like a Butterfly

Let's talk about a butterfly, one of the most famous examples. It starts as a tiny egg, then hatches into a caterpillar. The caterpillar eats and grows, then turns into a chrysalis (like a cozy blanket). After some time, it comes out as a beautiful butterfly! Then the butterfly flies around, finds a mate, and lays eggs, starting the whole journey again.

Like You

You also have a life cycle. You start as a baby, then you grow into a kid like you are now. Eventually, you’ll become an adult, and maybe even a grandparent one day! Each stage is part of your special journey, just like the butterfly’s.
