A land breeze and a sea breeze are like two friendly neighbors who take turns playing a game that happens every day, one in the morning, one at night.
During the day, the sun heats up the land faster than the sea, just like how your skin gets warmer when you sit in the sun on the playground. The warm air over the land rises, and cooler air from the sea rushes in to take its place, that’s a sea breeze! It feels nice and cool when you’re near the beach.
At night, everything cools down. The land cools faster than the sea, like how your hands get cold after taking a sip of ice water. Now the air over the land is cooler and sinks, while the warmer air from the sea moves toward it, that’s a land breeze! It can feel gentle and refreshing as you walk home from the beach.
These breezes are part of nature's daily rhythm, just like how you have days and nights, but with wind!
