What are influx of nutrients?

An influx of nutrients is when food gives energy or help to something else, like a plant or an animal.

Imagine you have a toy robot that needs batteries to move. Every time you put in new batteries, it gets more power and can run faster or longer. That’s kind of what happens with an influx of nutrients, it's like giving food to something so it can grow, work harder, or stay healthy.

Like a Plant Drinking Water

Think about a plant in your room. When you water it, it drinks the water and gets stronger. If you give it lots of water all at once, that’s an influx of nutrients, like giving it a big drink to help it grow tall and green.

Or a Kid Eating Pizza

Now think about you eating pizza after school. The pizza gives your body energy so you can play games or do homework. If you eat a whole pizza, that's like getting a big influx of nutrients, your body gets lots of fuel to keep going!
