Hybrid offspring are when two different kinds of parents have babies that mix their traits.
Imagine you have a dog and a cat. They’re very different, dogs bark and run, cats purr and climb. But what if they had a baby together? That baby would be a hybrid offspring, like a dog-cat mix. It might have fur like a cat but also be able to run fast like a dog.
How Hybrid Offspring Happen
Sometimes, two different animals or plants can make babies that are part of both parents. For example, a horse and a donkey can have a baby called a mule. Mules are strong like horses but tough like donkeys.
Or think about flowers, if you plant a rose next to a daisy, sometimes they can make a flower that has the color of a rose and the shape of a daisy. That’s also a hybrid offspring!
So, when two different parents have babies that mix their traits, those babies are called hybrid offspring, just like mixing colors in paint!
