What They Look Like
Imagine you're stacking blocks one on top of the other, but instead of blocks, it's huge rocks and snow. The Himalayas are just like that, only much bigger! Some parts of them are so high that they even touch the clouds. You can see them from far away, and they look like a big, white wall in the sky.
Why They Matter
The Himalayas help protect the land behind them, kind of like how a strong fence protects your garden from the wind. They also hold lots of snow and ice, which melt into rivers that flow down to give water to people living far away, just like how melting ice cream makes a tasty drink for you on a hot day!
Examples
- The Himalayas are like Earth's tallest bookshelf, holding up the sky with their peaks.
- Kids in Nepal might grow up thinking they live at the top of the world because of the Himalayas.
